The Iron Mask

Following THE THREE MUSKETEERS, The King of Hollywood, Douglas Fairbanks reprised his role in THE IRON MASK, which finds D’Artagnan and his fellow Musketeers under threat by the sinister Cardinal Richelieu and Count De Rochefort.

This was the last big costume picture of the Twenties and Fairbanks' first excursion into sound motion pictures. It has a symphonic score, sound effects and some talking sequences, including a spoken introduction by Douglas Fairbanks Jr., recorded in 1952. The film is a spectacularly detailed sequel to The Three Musketeers with Fairbanks as D'Artagnan.
